The Guardian’s Six Songs of Me

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t like music.  My musical knowledge is abysmal and I tend to clam up when confronted with a discussion on genres / artists / songs, but even I have songs I love and hate.  The powerful emotional response that music evokes is being compiled and celebrated by Guardian Music in their Six Songs of Me project.  Check out their video to see Wretch 32’s choices:

The concept is simple – which six songs have the most significance for you?  By amassing as many responses as possible, Guardian Music want to celebrate the tracks that have a hold on us.  There are six questions designed to make you think of six different songs, check out the Six Songs of Me site to see the topics and enter your tracks.  The subjects are varied:  I won’t bore you with all my choices but I can’t resist sharing the first song I ever bought, because I’m fairly sure a whole generation shares this with me – Wannabe by The Spice Girls (you can see why I don’t discuss music much).

What do you think of the idea, does it make you start singing?  What other questions could you ask? How hard is it to narrow down your favourite songs to just six?  Let us know in the comments below.
