Save the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival

LLAGFFImportant gay news here today at The Queer Sphere – The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival should be celebrating its 25th anniversary this year but instead there are fears for its survival with this year’s festival being described as ‘a shadow of its former self’ thanks to the government’s spending cuts to cultural bodies.

The LGFF is one of the UK’s most significant LGBT cultural events, showcasing new talent and bringing together discussion and debate on a diverse and exciting canon of work of gay and lesbian movies.

The LLGFF is funded by the British Film Institute, who facing 15% cuts to funding have understandably had to make savings. However, the LLGFF must be safeguarded as much as possible; it would be a cultural loss, not just for the LGBT community, to let this institution fail.

This year’s program has just been announced and can be viewed here.

Please take 2 minutes of your time to sign the petition to help save the wonderful London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
